Down, inu, down
We taught inu new command over the weekend. To our surprise, inu learned it well for only about 10 practices. I was expecting about 1 week for inu to pick up the command 'down'. Our inu sure is smart :). When I was holding a treat in my hand and asked inu to sit first, she would sit, though reluctantly. Then I asked her “Down, inu, down, down”, I have to ask several times with treat in my hand and inu would eventually lay down on the floor reluctantly. I was sure that inu knew what we were asking but she was just too stubborn to follow. Finally, I would put the treat about 2 inches in front of her nose and asked “Hold, inu, hold, hold”, and inu would just stare at the treat impatiently. She would hold up dashing for the treat until I say “go, go, go”. Although she would sometimes walked around me trying to reach for the treat, when I yelled “hold' loud enough, she would just walk around the treat impatiently. We were so thrilled for inu's great accomplishment.
What's next to teach inu to do? Stay? Roll over? Turn? Speak? We'll see.
